Chinese New Year!

Year of the Pig

Happy New Year! On Feburary 18th, the fam and I had the opportunity to go to London's Chinese New Year's Parade and celebration! I was granted the opportunity to be "tour guide Krissy" for a bus load of 49 people. Our good friends, the Campbells (Josh and Ang) were also playing tour guide. The day started early - had to be at the pick-up point at 7:30am! after getting everyone situated on the bus (there were 5 that went), we enjoyed our 1 1/2 hour drive to the Chinese district of London-town.

We watched the parade (which unfortunately only lasted like 15 minutes) and then went to a Japanese restaurant (we've been there before) for lunch.

After enjoying the sights and sometimes the smells of Chinatown, we went to a London production ... Lion King? Nope, sold out ... Mary Poppins? Na ah, sold out ... the Sound of Music? Nada, sold out ... the Blue Man Group? Unfortunately, also sold out ... Stomp? YES! Stomp it was, and the kids really liked it! Especially Austin, who ended up falling asleep (it was a long day by then, poor little buddy) Stomp is a musical extravaganza which is performed with only household or ordinary "instruments"; i.e., trash cans, match boxes, the kitchen sink.

Pizza was the food of choice for supper and then, it was back on the bus for the ride home! Another fun and eventful day was had by all! Happy New Year to all! (oh, and sorry to all of those police officers ... year of the pig and all)
